St. Thomas & Elgin County are about to take part in a coordinated effort, mandated by the Provincial Ministry of Housing, to measure the extent and the nature of homelessness across the Province.
During the week of April 20-27, 2018 the City of St. Thomas, working closely with YWCA St. Thomas and with multiple community agencies and volunteers will conduct St. Thomas & Elgin County's first ever homelessness count.
Results from the Homelessness Count will be made publicly available. In the future, a homeless count will be taking place every two years, which will enable the measurement of progress towards our ultimate goal: preventing and ending homelessness in St. Thomas & Elgin County.
